Skin Health Is Part of Total-Body Health
At 4T+, we focus on building health from the inside through nutrition, lean muscle, hydration, hormone balance, sleep, recovery, and smart supplementation. But healthy aging should not stop beneath the surface.
Your skin is a living organ and the body's first protective barrier. It helps defend against environmental exposure, regulates moisture and temperature, supports wound healing, and provides sensory feedback. As we age, the skin naturally loses collagen and elastic fibers, becomes drier and more fragile, and may recover more slowly. These changes can become especially noticeable after 40.
That makes skin care more than a cosmetic routine. It is preventive maintenance for the outside of the body—just as resistance training, protein, sleep, and metabolic health are preventive maintenance for the inside.
Why Men and Women Should Care for Their Skin
Men and women share the same fundamental skin-health needs:
- Remove sweat, oil, sunscreen, makeup, and environmental buildup without damaging the moisture barrier.
- Replace lost hydration and support the skin barrier.
- Protect against ultraviolet exposure.
- Address changes in texture, pigmentation, dryness, fine lines, and elasticity.
- Pay attention to new, changing, bleeding, or non-healing spots that may require a dermatologist.
After 40, accumulated sun exposure, hormonal changes, stress, dehydration, shaving, outdoor activity, and reduced natural oil production can all affect the skin's appearance and resilience. Consistent daily care can help skin remain more comfortable, hydrated, even-looking, and resistant to irritation.
The most important distinction is generally not male versus female. Product selection should primarily be based on skin type, sensitivity, dryness, oiliness, pigmentation, and personal goals. Men may prefer fewer steps and lightweight products, while women may choose a more targeted routine, but either routine can work for either sex.
The 4T+ Skin Health Philosophy
Build health from the inside. Protect it on the outside.
Protein, healthy fats, micronutrients, hydration, sleep, exercise, and balanced hormones help create the internal environment that supports healthy tissue. Topical skin care then cleanses, hydrates, protects, and targets visible concerns externally.
No cream can replace sleep, good nutrition, hydration, or sun protection. Likewise, a healthy diet does not remove sweat, moisturize dry skin, or protect exposed skin from ultraviolet radiation. The two strategies work together.
The Correct Order of a Skin-Care Routine
Use products from the lightest consistency to the heaviest:
Morning: Cleanse → Treatment Serum → Hydration Serum → Moisturizer → Sunscreen
Evening: Cleanse → Treatment Serum → Hydration Serum → Moisturizer or Night Cream
A complicated ten-step routine is not required. Consistency with three or four well-selected products is more valuable than occasionally using many products.
4T+ Morning Routine
Step 1: Gentle Cleansing Gel
Use the Gentle Cleansing Gel to remove overnight oil, sweat, and residue without stripping the skin's natural moisture barrier. Apply a quarter-sized amount to damp hands, lather gently over the face and neck, rinse, and pat dry. It is suitable for morning and evening use.
This should be the foundation for most 4T+ routines.
Best for: Men and women, all skin types, daily use, active adults, people who exercise or sweat frequently.
Step 2: Choose One Brightening Serum
Vitamin C Serum
The Vitamin C Serum is the more targeted option for visible sun damage, uneven tone, dullness, and dark spots. Its formula includes multiple forms of vitamin C and ferulic acid, and the product is positioned to provide antioxidant, brightening, hydration, and collagen-support benefits.
Apply a small amount after cleansing and before moisturizer. Because the product page advises avoiding sun exposure after application, position it conservatively for evening use, or use it during the day only when followed by broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Vitamin Glow Serum
The Vitamin Glow Serum is a gentler, broader daily radiance product containing niacinamide, a vitamin C derivative, panthenol, linoleic acid, and vitamin E. It is intended to support more even-looking, nourished, luminous skin and layers easily under moisturizer or makeup. Apply three to four drops to the face and neck after cleansing.
Best for: Dullness, uneven-looking tone, daily maintenance, people who prefer a lightweight serum.
Do You Need Both?
Most customers do not need both Vitamin C Serum and Vitamin Glow Serum in the same routine. Their functions overlap.
- Choose Vitamin C Serum for a more focused brightening and antioxidant treatment.
- Choose Vitamin Glow Serum for a gentler, multi-vitamin daily serum.
Sensitive users should begin with one product rather than stacking both.
Step 3: Hyaluronic Acid Serum
The Hyaluronic Acid Serum uses four forms of hyaluronic acid and is designed to improve moisture retention, hydration, suppleness, and the appearance of elasticity. Apply a small amount after the treatment serum and before moisturizer.
For best results, apply while the skin is slightly damp rather than completely dry, then seal it in with moisturizer.
Best for: Nearly everyone over 40, particularly dry, tight, dehydrated, weather-exposed, or mature skin.
Step 4: Select a Moisturizer
Watermelon Hydration Moisturizer
This lightweight, non-greasy moisturizer contains niacinamide, glycerin, fruit extracts, green tea, chamomile, and other moisturizing ingredients. It is designed for morning or night use and absorbs quickly, making it a strong daytime option or base under makeup.
Best for: Normal, combination, or oilier skin; humid climates; men who dislike heavy creams; women wearing makeup.
Skin Hydration Cream
The Skin Hydration Cream is a richer moisturizer with hyaluronic acid, avocado oil, and vitamin E. It is intended to support hydration, smoother texture, and elasticity and can be applied to the face or body once or twice daily.
Best for: Dry or mature skin, colder weather, neck, chest, hands, elbows, or people who want a richer moisturizer.
Tallow Cream Orange & Bergamot
The Tallow Cream is the heaviest, most occlusive option. It contains beef tallow, olive oil, jojoba oil, orange oil, and bergamot oil and is intended for deep moisturization of dry and rough areas.
Best for: Very dry skin, rough hands, elbows, knees, feet, beard-area dryness, or targeted body use.
Because it contains citrus essential oils and is scented, people with sensitive facial skin should patch-test it first. This is best positioned as an intensive face-and-body moisturizer rather than the default facial product for every customer.
Step 5: Sunscreen
The current 4T+ collection does not include sunscreen, so customers should complete the morning routine with a separate broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher. This is essential when using retinol and valuable for everyone seeking to reduce premature aging, uneven pigmentation, and accumulated sun damage.
For Florida customers and active adults, sunscreen is not optional. Reapply after heavy sweating, swimming, or extended outdoor exposure according to the sunscreen label.
4T+ Evening Routine
Step 1: Cleanse
Use the Gentle Cleansing Gel to remove sweat, sunscreen, oil, dirt, and makeup. People who work out in the evening should cleanse after training rather than allowing sweat and residue to remain on the skin.
Step 2: Retinol and Peptide Face Serum
The Retinol and Peptide Face Serum is the primary 4T+ nighttime treatment for fine lines, uneven texture, firmness, elasticity, and pigmentation concerns. Apply three to four drops to the face and neck at night, then follow with moisturizer. The product specifically advises wearing broad-spectrum sunscreen the next morning.
For beginners:
- Start two nights per week.
- Increase to every other night as tolerated.
- Use only a thin layer.
- Avoid the eyelids, corners of the nose, and lips.
- Reduce frequency if redness, peeling, burning, or persistent dryness develops.
Dermatologists commonly advise starting retinoids slowly because irritation can worsen dryness and, in some skin tones, may contribute to post-inflammatory dark marks. Retinoids should generally be avoided during pregnancy unless a physician specifically advises otherwise.
Step 3: Hydrate
Follow the retinol with the Hyaluronic Acid Serum, particularly when dryness is a concern. For very sensitive skin, moisturizer may be placed before and after retinol—the "moisturizer sandwich" approach—to reduce irritation.
Step 4: Moisturize
Choose one:
- Watermelon Hydration Moisturizer for lighter hydration.
- Skin Hydration Cream for richer hydration.
- Tallow Cream for very dry areas or intensive moisture support.
Alternative: Sleep Plus Collagen Cream
The Sleep Plus Collagen Cream is a nighttime product containing hyaluronic acid, collagen, aloe, avocado oil, lavender oil, and topical melatonin. Apply one-quarter teaspoon to the face and/or neck 45–60 minutes before bedtime. Note: each quarter teaspoon contains 2.4 mg of melatonin.
Because this product contains a specified dose of melatonin, it should not be treated as an interchangeable everyday face cream. The product advises pregnant or nursing women, people under 18, and those with known medical conditions to consult a physician before use.
Position this as an optional specialty nighttime product, not the default moisturizer for every customer.
Kojic Acid and Turmeric Soap
The Kojic Acid & Turmeric Soap is designed for cleansing and improving the appearance of uneven tone on the face or body. It can be used on areas such as the hands, neck, underarms, and inner thighs. Lather on wet skin, leave on for 30–60 seconds, rinse thoroughly, and keep the bar dry between uses.
Best for: Uneven-looking pigmentation, dull body skin, darkened areas, and customers seeking a face-and-body brightening cleanser.
Avoid combining this every day with Vitamin C Serum and retinol—that combination may be overly aggressive for some users.
A safer starting schedule:
- Kojic soap two to four times per week.
- Retinol on separate nights.
- Moisturizer immediately afterward.
- Daily sunscreen on exposed areas.

These are not biologically exclusive men's and women's products. The routines reflect common preferences. A man with very dry skin may need the richer women's-style routine; a woman with oily skin may prefer the streamlined men's routine.
What Should Not Be Combined Initially
Avoid introducing several active products simultaneously. Begin with cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen, then introduce one treatment at a time.
Use caution with these combinations:
- Retinol + Kojic Soap in the same evening: may increase dryness or irritation.
- Retinol + strong Vitamin C Serum in the same routine: experienced users may tolerate it, but beginners should separate them.
- Vitamin C Serum + Vitamin Glow Serum: probably redundant.
- Several moisturizers layered together: usually unnecessary unless treating extremely dry areas.
- Sleep Plus Collagen Cream + another heavy night cream: may feel excessive and makes it harder to determine which product is helping or causing irritation.
